JEFF Daniels, BA, Tourism

Following a 14-year tenure at Tourism Calgary as Executive Director, Sport, Culture and Major Events, Jeff now leads Manifesto's Sport Tourism Division.

In his time at Tourism Calgary, Jeff led and supported the acquisition and development of over 600 events and several major event bids including 2019 Canadian Country Music Awards, 2019 CFL Grey Cup, 2019 Red Bull Outliers, 2021 Hub City for Curling Canada, 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship and X Games Calgary generating over $50-million in total funding and $1-billion in total economic impact for Calgary.

As Senior Director, Jeff will focus on creating opportunities to work with leading event rights holders, destination marketing organizations and host cities to develop sport tourism and bid strategies to establish solid funding foundations, win major events, and extend the value of hosting and community legacies.

For Jeff, major events are a catalyst for economic and cultural growth and economic development that can significantly contribute to community well-being, place branding and legacy initiatives.

As Canada's tourism and live events sectors embark on their recovery, Jeff leads the division into a post-COVID market with challenges and opportunites to help rights holders, DMOs and host cities.

Through client relationships with the Calgary 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games Bid Corporation, X Games Calgary, Red Bull Crashed Ice Edmonton (2015 and 2018), The City of Calgary and Tourism Calgary, Freestyle Canada and Canada Snowboard, PGA TOUR Champions Shaw Charity Classic, Red Bull X-Fighters Calgary (2009), 2015 ISU Speed Skating World Championships, 2016 JUNO Awards, 2015 Canadian Open Volleyball Championships, WinSport Canada's World Cup Roundtable, Red Bull Supernatural, the Burton Canadian Open, and over 15 World Cup and World Championship events, our understanding of how to quantify and establish the hosting value of events is at the forefront of sport tourism in Canada.

Our work includes leading bids for major events for both cities and event rights holders, innovative ideas in sport tourism and governmental fund development, and event marketing strategies that deliver significantly increased hosting ROI.
