Keltie Hansen's half pipe skiing career almost never started. Mistaken for a boy in the first event she entered, she just missed the final.

Then, some serendipity.

A skier in the women's event pointed out that Keltie was actually a girl and that her runs had been scored against the male counterparts.

Awarded an exemption to the finals, she made the most of her second chance, and won.

Later that year, she traded mogul skiing for the half pipe and has quickly become a solid part of Canada's national team with growing Olympic ambitions.

In Sochi 2014, she competed against the world's best women in the sport's Olympic debut.
